Most studio websites in Doha answer this question with "contact us for a quote". We are going to answer it with numbers, because the quote request is usually the reason people give up and film in their office instead.
Studio rental at Ottora Studio runs from QAR 200 to QAR 400 an hour, depending on which setup you book. That is the whole range. Nothing below it, nothing above it, no membership to join first, and no minimum you have to buy into.
- Six setups, QAR 200–400 an hour. The rate covers the room, the lighting and the microphones.
- Two optional add-ons, both hourly: an extra camera at QAR 300, an operator at QAR 300.
- Three hours or more takes 15% off. Six hours or more takes 25% off — and the discount comes off the combined rate, add-ons included.
- Minimum booking is one hour. Six hours costs less per hour than one does.
- A full production day — Full Studio, six hours, one camera, one operator — is QAR 4,500 all in.
The hourly rates, by setup
| Setup | Rate | Seats | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bean Bags | QAR 200/hr | 8 | Reels, casual chat, unscripted clips |
| The Sofa | QAR 250/hr | 6 | Interviews, panels, relaxed conversation |
| Modern Sofa | QAR 250/hr | 4 | Podcasts, two-person shows |
| Retro | QAR 250/hr | 6 | Fashion, lifestyle, editorial, styled shoots |
| Cyclorama wall | QAR 300/hr | 10 | Product, full-length, anything needing a clean background |
| Full Studio | QAR 400/hr | 20 | Multi-look days, crews, production days |
What the rate includes, and what it does not
The hourly price covers three things, and it is worth being precise about them because "studio hire" means different things at different places in Doha.
The microphones matter more than people expect. Audio is where self-recorded video actually fails — not resolution, not the camera body. A treated room with a proper microphone will beat a better camera in an untreated meeting room every time, and it is not close.
The two add-ons, honestly
An additional camera — QAR 300 an hour. There are two cameras in the building, so two is what can be guaranteed for a single session. If a shoot needs more than that, they are arranged externally, agreed with you first, and billed separately — never assumed.
A camera operator — QAR 300 an hour. Someone who watches focus and framing while you are the one talking. Worth it when you are on camera; genuinely skippable when you are shooting to a locked-off frame and can check it yourself between takes.
Both are charged per hour of the booking, and both fall inside the volume discount — the discount comes off the combined hourly rate, not just the room. That detail changes the arithmetic on long days quite a lot, so it is worth reading the next section carefully.
How the discounts work
Volume is rewarded, not required:
- Three hours or more — 15% off the hourly rate.
- Six hours or more — 25% off.
Worked through on the Modern Sofa at QAR 250 an hour:
| Booking | Before discount | After discount | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | QAR 250 | QAR 250 | 250/hr |
| 2 hours | QAR 500 | QAR 500 | 250/hr |
| 3 hours | QAR 750 | QAR 637.50 | 212.50/hr |
| 4 hours | QAR 1,000 | QAR 850 | 212.50/hr |
| 6 hours | QAR 1,500 | QAR 1,125 | 187.50/hr |
| 8 hours | QAR 2,000 | QAR 1,500 | 187.50/hr |
Six hours costs less per hour than one. That is the arithmetic behind the advice everyone in production gives you and almost nobody follows: batch your shooting.
The minimum booking is one hour
There is no day rate you have to buy into and no three-hour floor. If you need one hour to record one thing, book one hour and pay for one hour.
This is not universal in Doha, and it is worth checking when you compare. A studio advertising a lower hourly rate with a four-hour minimum is more expensive than this one for anybody who needs two hours. Compare the total for the booking you will actually make, not the headline rate.
Four real bookings, priced end to end
A solo creator filming a month of reels. Bean Bags, three hours, no operator, own camera. QAR 600 less 15% = QAR 510. Walk out with twenty to thirty clips on your own drive.
A two-person podcast episode. Modern Sofa, two hours, one additional camera, no operator. QAR 500 + QAR 600 = QAR 1,100. Two angles, so the edit can cut without a visible jump.
A product catalogue shoot. Cyclorama, four hours, own camera. QAR 1,200 less 15% = QAR 1,020. Roughly forty simple products, for reasons explained in shooting a catalogue in one day.
A brand's production day. Full Studio, six hours, one additional camera, one operator. The combined rate is QAR 400 + QAR 300 + QAR 300 = QAR 1,000 an hour. Six hours is QAR 6,000, and the 25% six-hour discount comes off the whole thing: QAR 4,500 for a full day across four different looks.
That last one is the number worth remembering. Against the 47 assets a planned six-hour day produces, it works out around QAR 96 per finished asset — the full breakdown is in what a content creation studio produces in a day.
Why the hourly model, and not packages
Because most people do not need a package. They need three hours in October and four in December, and a monthly commitment would be a worse deal for them than paying as they go.
The exception is a show that records every month on a schedule. For those, a monthly podcast package is configured around the actual show — how many sessions, how long, how many cameras, how many episodes edited — rather than picked from three tiers that never quite fit. That starts at a short enquiry form rather than a phone call.
What else costs money, and what does not
Worth stating plainly, because these are the questions that arrive by WhatsApp at 9pm.
No charge for: parking, arriving fifteen minutes early to set up your own gear, changing between setups within a Full Studio booking, using your own camera or lighting, or copying files to your own drive on site.
Charged: hours. That is genuinely the model. If you overrun, you are charged for the extra hour at the same rate — there is no penalty rate for going over.
Quoted separately: editing beyond episode editing at QAR 500 per episode, more than two cameras, and anything that needs equipment sourced from outside the building.
Frequently asked
How much does it cost to rent a studio in Doha?
QAR 200 to QAR 400 an hour at Ottora Studio depending on the setup, with 15% off from three hours and 25% off from six hours.
Is there a minimum booking?
One hour. No membership, no day-rate commitment.
Are cameras included in the hourly rate?
No. The rate covers the space, the lighting and the microphones. Cameras are QAR 300 an hour each, and an operator is QAR 300 an hour. Both are optional and plenty of bookings use neither.
How many cameras can I book?
Two are guaranteed, because two are owned in house. More can be arranged, and are quoted separately before you commit.
Do the discounts apply to cameras and the operator too?
Yes. The 15% and 25% discounts come off the full hourly rate, room plus add-ons — so a six-hour day with a camera and an operator saves a quarter on all three.
Can I use my own camera and lighting?
Bring your own camera by all means, and it is a common booking. The lighting is already rigged, so bringing your own generally costs you setup time rather than saving anything.
What if I run over my booked time?
You are charged for the additional hour at the normal rate. There is no penalty rate, but the slot after yours may be booked, so it is worth checking on the day.
What are the opening hours?
Saturday to Thursday, 10:00 to 23:00. Closed Fridays. Evening slots after 19:00 are the busiest, so book those a week or two ahead.
Is there parking?
Yes. There is an e-gate at the entrance — message or call when you arrive and it will be opened for you.
Where exactly is the studio?
Abu Hamour, Doha.
